Kinsey Rowe Becker & Kistler, LLP associates with other firms across the nation to represent clients injured by defective medical products. We are currently involved in lawsuits or accepting claims to investigate in connection with the following products.
Kugel Mesh Hernia Repair Patches
The firm is currently representing client interests in litigation involving a defective hernia repair material known as a Kugel Mesh. This product is subject to a Class I recall by the FDA, and between December, 2005 and January, 2007 Davol, Inc., a subsidiary of C.R. Bard, Inc. and the manufacturer of this product, issued three recalls, because the "memory recoil ring," which opens the patch, has broken under stress in the intra-abdominal space. A broken ring can injure internal organs. While the first Kugel Mesh cases are expected to go to trial next year, there are many persons who have received this product who have not yet filed suits.

Heart Defribillator Leads
On November 12, 2007 the Wall Street Journal reported that the Riata line of defibrillator wires made by St. Jude Medical Inc. are in rare instances puncturing holes in the hearts of cardiac patients. These lead wires are attached to the heart wall and are designed to detect an abnormal heart rhythm. When abnormal activity is detected, the defibrillator administers an electric shock to restore a normal rhythm. However, in some cases, the Riata leads have poked holes through the heart.
This report follows closely after a recall of defribillator wires by Medtronic, Inc.'s Sprint Fidelis defibrillator lead. Medtronic pulled this product from the market after the company found it was breaking. The Wall Street Journal notes: "The Sprint Fidelis is a thin-diameter model, as are some of the Riata leads. An FDA spokeswoman, Karen Riley, said, "We are actively looking at whether lead size and configuration pose unique safety and performance issues.""
